Paypal is lame, guess I'll shut it down

I recently received a notification regarding a buying activity and paying with paypal. I recently bought a pair of glasses that was listed as "Texas Holdem Middlefinger Sunglasses". They're John Lennon style glasses with the middle finger hologram in them. Great funny item (my 2nd pair that I bought) purchased within the last couple of weeks. Here's the stupid email from them:

So this is utterly BS! If the item was not listed under "Casino" would it have been okay in the first place? Secondly, why aren't they going after the seller's of this stuff and who are accepting Paypal (logo and all displayed) as payment. If Ebay allows the item to be listed, then both heads (Paypal & Ebay) should be in sync with one another. I'm sending them back an email stating that I am not gambling.....this is a novelty item and I may just want to wear them at nightclubs, next social church meeting, or my next KKK meeting.

No they would have dinged you for buying "gambling attire." image

That sucks. They should just take their cut and stay out of our business.
  • Well! That ought'a learn ya! image

I bet once a real person looks into it that they'll rescind their notice. It was probably "detected" by a computer program.

    Good Luck.

This is almost like a little kid in school getting the ruler slapped on his hand. I basically had to click on their "acceptable rules policy" to resolve their claim against me and pledge allegence to the Paypal God and write in "I Agree" at the end again. Now they will review my case within the next 3 days and tell me "Naughty, naughty" or whatever.
  • That makes me want to buy a pair of those glasses and pay by Paypal just to screw with them a little.

It's much easier to go after you post facto than to police the net for sellers - that's my guess.

    Now, the item. Absolutely cool!!!

When I saw these, I went nuts! Fossilman is my favorite winner to date - followed by Moneymaker.

Are you a holdem fan? I watch reruns of WSOP and WPT like some watch Roseanne!!!

And, of course, everyone knows how I feel about Shana!!!

    Mike, and everyone else.
Here is the item that I won. I just looked again and
even noticed that the seller has it under "Everything Else - bizarre stuff". This is absolutely ridiculous. Although my Paypal acct. has been rendered back to normal per my renewal agreement of their usage policy; this is still absolutely BS that they even had to come bother me about it. This is the 2nd pair I have purchased from this great seller....very fast shipping and very nice. I was in Vegas almost 2 weeks ago at Caesar's Grand opening of their poker room. There was a tournament for 30k first place and a seat to the 2006 WSOP. I had to finish 1st or 2nd (shootout) to advance to the final day, and I came in 3rd. I felt dejected but then went to a no-limit table and won $700. My glasses (1st pair) was a huge hit and this one guy begged me to sell them to him which I did. I made an extra $10 figuring I'll just go ahead and purchase another one which I just did. Anyways, yes Mike...I'm a huge fan of Texas Hold'em. I pretty much eat, sleep, and dream about cards (not sportscards). I'm heading to Vegas this weekend for another tourney and another shot at a seat to the WSOP. 1st prize is 10k and a seat. They keep sending me these things and everything (room and entry fees) are always paid for. I have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain. I guess it's also nice when your wife racks up tons of points on your players card for hitting jackpot after jackpot. I haven't had to pay for a room/meals/shows within the past 5 years.

No cards for me. I made a living for a year off Hold 'em and the hours I put in are nowhere worth the money you get. Potential money yes, but if you don't hit it big it is a struggle and a lot of hours.

I love hold 'em too and the odds and strategies are the best of any game I have played, but these guys commit themselves to the game. To go for the big bucks you need to log countless hours and learn that KK under ain't $hit when and A hits the board.

Bryan, that sucks about the glasses. Seems rules and regulations get in the way sometimes when chips and cards(actual gambling tools) are sold freely. Let us know what Paypal says.

I have been paid via PayPal from juice decks (marked cards) before and they never said anything.

That almost seems more like a phishing email than a legit one. Did you forward it to Spoof@paypal.com ? Have you logged into your account and received any messages directly from Paypal? It may have your name on the email, but that no longer means it is legit (I've been getting fake Paypal emails confirmed by Payal as being fake with my name on them).

Yes I logged onto my Paypal acct and the same email thing was there. I never click any links from email. It's all settled now.

Cool. Just wanted to make sure. The Paypal phishing emails have been getting better and better, to the point where I don't even want to read any Paypal emails anymore. I just use the site for everything now.
