Roberto Clemente book

My first grader came home with a book today-Roberto Clemente by Johan Winter, illustrated by Raul Colon-my liitle guy collects cards and he knows about Clemente through my brainwashing-he was so happy to show me the book-It is a 10 minute read with awesome illustarations-may I suggest it to every father/son collector Scott

    It's great to see young ones grow up with an appreciation for the history of the game and it's stars. I'll make a note of that book - still waiting for the first grandchild...

    My son used to read short books like that when he was in elementary school - I used to like reading them also - sorta like the Reader's Digest version of biogs - I agree - anyone with youngsters might consider sitting down and reading with them.

  • There is also an excellent "learn to read type book that my young son enjoys called "Teammates". It's small words, easy reading and lots of pics. It's all about Jackie Robinson and PeeWee Reese. Awesome.

    I remember reading about Roberto Clemente in my "reading book" back when I was in elementry school in the early 80s. The reading book was broken up into several "units", each with it's own story (with pictures, of course) and questions at the end.
