The ones that got away... and one that didn't.

Don't you just hate being an underbidder? Not simply *an* underbidder, but *THE* underbidder? Makes ya think "Maybe I should have..." and then common sense sets in. Can't place unlimited bids on everything.

Here's a few that got away in the last few weeks:

Austrian Netherlands Liard, 1780. NGC MS65 BN. Underbidder at $83.

Romania 10 Bani, 1867. NGC PF67 RB. I bowed out at $147 against a Krause value of $85. In retrospect, I'm kinda glad I didn't get it. The other denominations I have from the series in proof are full RD, so I'm going to keep my eyes out for one...

Germany 3 Mark, 1927 A. Marburg University. NGC MS65. $194 was my limit.

Germany 2 Mark, 1928 A. Naumburg. NGC MS64. $198 was as high as I wanted to go. I really liked the clean matte surfaces on it.

And lastly, one that didn't get away tonight, although I ended up spending more than I'd hoped (hey, I'm a cheapskate at heart). Everyone knows I'm a sucker for dark copper. image Courtesy of the fungal one:

I was an underbidder on that last oneimage. Not 'the' underbidder though and it went way over my budgetimage.
I have the same date ANACS MS60bn that I got from another board member last year.

Actually, I've seen this coin in person and it is truly OUTSTANDING in hand. Shame for the bad scans of the seller, TrueView quality photos was a necessity here.

I think you landed the best one of the bunch; looks nicer than a 63.

Received the halfpenny today from His Shroomness. Very nice piece! The strike is razor sharp and the surfaces are impeccable. It screams MS65 to me. The only thing I can think of is that the coin was penalized due to rim dings on the reverse.

Here are my pics, which I think are a bit closer colorwise to the actual coin (no offense to the previous photographer of the coin).

    Thanks Don!
