I passed on this card! Was it too expensive?

What value does one put on this card? I thought $150 to be a bit rich for an '82 OPC. But I was really tempted to "pull the trigger", as it looked really good!

1982 OPC #201 George Brett In Action PSA 10 1/1

edit: Poll -- What value would you place on this PSA 10?

A. $ 50
B. $ 100
C. $ 150
D. ___________ (other write-in!)

Rob - i would guess 50-75 range. I am surprised to see you have a budget. I didn't think there was much you passed on.

For $199.99 this guy is not much of a dealmaker

  • $50.00 sounds fair. There's only been 2 #201s submitted for grading 1 coming in at a 10 and the other a 9. There could be a whole slew of '10's in existence that haven't been graded yet.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

    LOL!

I do "step on the gas" for some 60's and 70's!

I began to "nibble at certain 1980 OPC's", but 80's material in general? I'm just not there yet!

p.s. I've bought a very small handful of 80's OPC material, that's it! btw, I put a $50 value on the Brett card. But if it turns out to be a "one and only", still in a few years from now, who knows? George Brett, PSA 10, and a 1/1??? --> $$ ---> $$$ ----> $$$$ -----> $$$$$

If it were a Carew card, i would have topped out at $50 for the all-star card.

$50 for all star or in-action, at the most, and maybe $70 for regular card... for me. I too am surprised you have a budget. Don't let money stop you because we enjoy seeing your posts and saying, "oh my gosh he paid $XXX for THAT card!?" Keep it up!
  • Really, I am living vicariously through your purchasing power! Can't wait for my boys to grow up so I have some money tho spend on cards...

Just glad to be here with everyone.
  • There was a 1981 Donruss Rickey Henderson PSA 10 that went for $350+!!!

A PSA 10 from the 1950s or 1960s - sure - no problem going for a huge premium - but cards from the 1980s - NO WAY!!!! The volume of cards that were produced in the '80s just has to result in a lot of high grade cards.

The pop report for moderns is a joke!!

    ...buyer beware!!!

Yeah, but modern or not, early '80s OPC is tough to find in that condition.
