question about the pcgs price quide

Hi,I am new to this forum,My Question is.. There is a price guide for pcgs certified coins, But I have seen some coins go beyond that guide(I guess if you really want it....) but other times if the guide says it is worth $200.00(example) sometimes you cant even get half of that? Why is there price of $200.00 when in fact nobody would even pay that?I understand the demand aspect of this,But would it not be better to quote trends prices than inflated? Any help understanding this would be appreciated . Thanks ,Dave

    Hi Dave,

The Price Guide is dealer asking prices for coins. Sometimes you can buy coins for less than the price guide. Sometimes the price guide price is wrong. It is a "guide" to help you...but it is just a guide. We have experts, including me, do the prices...and we do the best we can to try to help you.

    Thanks,

    David
