1960 TOPPS BASEBALL

Has anyone noticed a substantial decline in interest and in prices for PSA-7's and 8's? It seems as bad as I can remember in quite some time . . . Why? imageimageimageimage

Probably because the supply far exceeds the demand-- and will continue to for the foreseeable future.
  • I know a number of guys backed away from the set because the prices were so high. Just like all of the other sets, demand ebbs and flows. If guys on this board see prices at a level at which they think is a good entry point they will jump right back in.

Lots of supply--pretty much case with all 60s sets(perhaps except 62) with some exceptions. Supply will continue to grow-outlook not good for prices.
See 59/60 as pretty much dividing line in baseball--after that cards in plentiful supply, be prepared to lose money; before that cards more scarce--probably excellent investment.

I agree. Most 60's sets are very plentiful in 7 and above and even 8 and higher. I have said it over and over I sold my 60's cards at the right time and have been buying them back for sometimes a quarter of the price. I got very high prices for my 68's when I broke the set because people were fighting over the 9's and 10's I had. I just bought 4 10's back for under 500 that I sold for 1700 dollars two years ago. The 60's cards are in high supply. There are a few that are truely low pops. But some of those low pop giants have fell over time as pops have increased. This will continue to happen over time with most with a few that will remail tough. Unless there is a influx in collectoers it seems the pops are out distancing the buyers and slowing winning the race. Thats a good thing for collecters and a bad thing for the sellers.

I can't seem to get any 65's in 8 at the cheap. (at least the ones I need) heck i saw a Frank Bertaina go for 80.00 in 8 the other night.
Luckily for me I got mine during an ebb for 20.00 or so.

    Good for you.
  • My message was refering to strictly 1960 not other years in the 60's. I am buyin PSA-8's regularily for what I was once paying for PSA-7's

Sounds like it is a great time to be a buyer. (for 1960)

I was answering the posts above mine in which reference to all 60's sets was mentioned.

<<< after that cards in plentiful supply >>>

Especially 1961 - that was the year of the Maris and Mantle homerun race of course when Maris hit 61, and for sure a ton of cards were printed. There is a lot of high grade raw still out there of 1961 Topps.
