Fisher Coin-Stike and GOLD COINS

Question for everyone.

I was doing some checks with my Fisher CS (That has done very well by the way) using some gold coins from the kids and my collection. The thing I can't under stand is that the coin strike makes a tone on a liberty $2 1/2, $10 and $20 Dollar gold piece. The coin strike "DID NOT" make a noise on two liberty $5 dollar pieces or a $5 dollar indian head.

If I place two of the coins togethor though, it will make a tone. The display comes up positve in the range it should for the coins though. Any input would be great thanks........

Something to do with pulltab rejection, perhaps? 'Cause that's the range I've air-tested fives at. And the bigger coins fall higher on the scale.

Can't see why it would read a $2.50 and not a $5.00, though, unless you had tabs notched out?

  • My only thought would be like LM said. Were you using discrimination? Have you tried them in all-metal?
