Questions about 2005 Business Strike 25c

I have had a chance to look at both 2005 mint set 25c and 2005 25c from BU rolls. It seems some of the business strike 25c have a satiny appearance similar to the mint set coins. A couple questions arise: Is the mint discarding dies used to make mint set coins or subsequently using them to strike circulation coins? (I sincerely doubt they are being discarded); If the mint continues to use the dies, how will PCGS distinguish satin finish mint set coins from circulation strikes? Sounds like a replay of 1965-1967 SMS problems for those submitting high-grade satiny BU coins.

Michael: I heard the same thing. I believe I have also seen collectors paying thousand(s) of dollars for sub-$100 mislabeled coins. I applaud PCGS' decision all along to have the OPTION of SF or non-SF coins in the regular sets. If uninformed or well-meaning but unsophisticated collectors are already paying thousand(s) of dollars for mislabeled coins worth less than $100, what would thay pay if the mislabeled coins were actually REQUIRED? IMHO, PCGS should protect the public (as they have been doing) and keep the coins optional. However, PCGS may also want to consider creating variety sets which include both types of coins for those who want to collect both. Just my 2 cents.

I agree that they are varities that have collector interest (At least I am) but I would not pay tooo high of a premium. But some premium is going to be required as the Business strike coins are not as good as the SF's in quality.

And like you my 2c worth.

I would like to add that I have a BST post wanting to buy a few of the 2005 coins for my different sets.
