Ocean View First Day Coin Covers are hot on Ebay

Have you guys seen what's happened to the Ocean View First Day Coin Covers on Ebay? I guess it's just supply and demand because the Mint only sold 23,000 of them (from a recent Numismatic News report). People could hardly even sell them before the numbers were reported (I bought 3 at $15 each with free shipping on Ebay to complete my collection!) but now that people know how scarce they are the prices are rising fast. I guess it was bound to happen since most people didn't buy the nickel coin covers because of what happened with the State Quarter Covers. Dealers didn't buy them because of this and a lot of collectors scoffed at them as well. I read the "tea leaves" and decided to buy a few (8 in total) before the news ever came out because I know they were limited to 50,000 even without the law that stopped mint sales on the 25th of Dec. I may sell 1 or 2 soon but I'm keeping the rest for the long-term because if the mint doesn't reopen sales, 23,000 dispersed amongst almost all collectors bodes VERY WELL! Who would have know that the sleeper of 2005 would be this coin cover lol
Here are the figures on the covers:
Peace Medal Nickel First Day Coin Cover- 42,515 (200,000 Max)
Keelboat Nickel First Day Coin Cover- 29,760 (200,000 Max)
Bison Nickel First Day Coin Cover- 83,522 (100,000 Max)
Ocean in View Nickel First Day Coin Cover- 23,337 (50,000 Max)
As you can see, even the Bison is well under 100,000, so that bodes well providing the Mint doesn't re-open sales of existing stocks. The Keelboat is almost as good as the Ocean View, so they will probably rise. I'm happy that I made the decison to get'em while they were cheap They also have nice pictures and the story behind the scene on the nickel on the reverse as well.
Just waiting fro the Ben Franklin Coin and Chronicles Set next
