Couple of New Victoria Medals

A 50mm boxed Victorian silver commemorative medal commemorating the Universal Exhibition of London held in 1862 . 45gms. French Medal.

Obverse is the young head profile of Queen Victoria with a band of laurel leaves in her hair, around the portrait are the words 'Victoria Queen of England' and below the name 'A. BOVY' the sculpture of the medal.

The Reverse is a scene with figures outside of the Crystal Palace. Underneath this are the words ' Universal Exhibition Of London 1862 Massonnet Editor'

The box is in tatty condition with a couple of splits, it is however the original box. The lid is marked with a trade label 'Medailles Imperiales Progressus generis humanl lex CH. MASSONNET Paris rue du Faub. St. Denis, 48 Jetons Adresses Incrustations - Medailles Pour Meubles, Pianos etc. Id. De L'Exposition Univle ID. Des Expositions Natles.

VERY RARE LARGE 50mm WHITE METAL MEDAL FROM THE 1862 INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION AT CRYSTAL PALACE, WITH LEGENDS IN FRENCH.
