Reweighting Sets

This subject was touched on by a post the other day concerning the weighted values of cards in the 1985 set.
Doe PSA ever reweight sets? What causes that to happen. I would think that in addition to the popularity of the player, the scarceness to find it in high grade should be taken into account. They could probably go to the registry and get some opinions from those who have come close to finishing the set and get some feedback on how difficult or easy it is to acquire some cards.
I realize that this would take more work than printing up a few certificates for the best set each Winter and posting them on a website or dedicating half the SMR to the winners each issue.

what kind of documentation do you need to send in. that seems to easy that a concerned collector puts in some time and they believe it. who did you contact?
    thanks and good luck

It does have to be approved by someone at PSA before it becomes official.

You can contact them at setregistry@collectors.com and tell them which set you want to weigh or which you think needs to be re-weigted, they made send you a spreadsheet with the current weigtings on it they may not.

I would post this on the Set Registry forum, you'll probably get a lot more responses. Also, there is a dedicated 1985 Topps FB thread over there that most of the registrants participate in. I don't do the 85 set, but there are plenty of die-hard fans of that set. Head over there and check it out, you'll get lots of info.
