Appier was a heck of a pitcher in his day. I don't know that he was ever worth the $10 mil the Mets gave him a few years back.

They signed them to one year minor league deals...adding a veteran presence.

You don't see them signing 4 year, $52 million deals do you?

    LOL

The M's give a four year 37.5 million dollar deal to a pitcher who went 18-6 FOUR years ago. Besides that his best seasons? 11-8, 11-10, and last but certainly least 11-15. Ooooo good job throwing GOBS of money at a average at best starting pitcher.

Do I have to name who this pitcher is that the M's gave this HIDEOUS deal to?

And what does 4 years/52 mill have to do with what the Mariners are doing?

Ax, has your obsession with the Yanks gone so far that you cant even discuss what the Mariners do????

Anyway, if I was a Mariners fan, I think I would want them to start considering paying 4 years/52 million for some decent veterans.

talk about obssessed...you are bringing up signings of 2 bit players for the mariners...are you sure it's not YOU who's obssessed?

    softie-

I sure as hell would rather pay that money to someone who is THIRTY ONE years old (Washburn) instead of some guy with perpetual back problems and who is FOURTY TWO (Johnson).

I see you conveniently left out him going 8-8 with a 3.20 ERA last year (fourth in the league in ERA, mind you). I guess FACTS mean nothing to clowns like you, huh slappy? Career record of 75-57 and 3.93 ERA. Not great, but respectable and solid.

I am also glad to see you climbed out from under the bed your boy Sheli put you under with his HORRIFIC game. 4(!!!!) turnovers, 3 picks, absolutely no idea how to handle big game pressure (learned from his big bro peyton). The giants put up the biggest goose egg at home in 23 years! Way to go! No other team had been shut out by such a large margin at home in that 23 year period! And your one great player (Tiki) says his team was outcoached (which they clearly were).

yeah, a respectable and solid THIRTY SEVEN AND A HALF MILLION. What a disaster of a signing. So, a 31 year old up and down run of the mill pitcher is all of the sudden young? When you blast the Yankees for signing a 32 year old outfielder?

as usual, you moron, you missed the reason why many (including myself) blasted the yankees signing damon.

one, you are putting an admittedly weak armed outfielder in a big center field responsibility, with lots of ground to cover. Secondly (and more importantly) damon himself is being blaster for signing for the max money when he said earlier in the year 'it's not about the money'. Finally, and most importantly, the yankees DIDN'T NEED ANOTHER BAT! They need pitching help, and lots of it, yet make moves for old, out of work middle relievers, doing nothing to shore up their rotation as teams in their division do so (so don't give me this crap about there being no starting pitchers available this offseason).

Comparing the two is (as par for the course for you), idiotic.

Good to see that giants LAMBASTING kept you humble for all of 2 days.

I was here as soon as I got back from the Giants lambasting. Nice try conjuring up another story, but you are the board idiot.

Good luck with your "solid" and "respectable" 37.5 million dollar pitcher. Your gonna need it when the "pitching starved" Yankees and everybody else are stomping all over the Mariners on a regular basis image

Hmm perhaps the yankees with their $175 MILLION payroll should do better than a team with a $85 million one, yes?

And I didn't say you disappeard you idiot, I said your humility disappeared with a quickness.

Do I need to remind you?

23-0. Yep, a thorough a$$ whoopin. But my humility? Nah, see THAT is your TWISTED view of things. What you NEED to see to make your world right.

I didnt realize I showed obsession with the Mariners...I think this is the first time I ever mentioned anything about any moves they made this off season.

Sounds to me that you are whining...or is it crying about what the Yankees are doing. Do you have a special Mariners crying towel? Actually, I would bet that your house is full of Yankee items!

If you are a Mariners fan, why are you unable to discuss the good or bad moves the Mariners make instead of what the Yankees are doing? Are you that much MORE interested with what the Yankees do? I suppose it is quite a bore to be a Mariners fan.

I think I remember a thread discussing the Yankees signing a couple of "2 bit players". Interesting that you can respond to that but youre not obsessed with the Yanks

Don't forget to go buy your new Mariners Appier and Vina jerseys!

What else could it be? You post about the most insignificant offseason move by the Mariners...surely you must be following their website daily in order to post this, on the day it happens no less.

Ooh a crying towel? you're so funny. Yankees memorabillia? If I had any, it would surely only be to the start the fire.

No, I don't feel the need to bring my team's every offseason move up here to the message board...to annoy everyone? How ridiculous would it have been for me to post 'OH MY GOD WE SIGNED VINA AND APPIER!!11!!! WE ROXOR!!111!' Like you do, spammy, with every single one of your yankee hacks?

Still on that kick thinking Im spammy image

You're the one that is always whining about the Yankee talk. Do you have a problem with the change of pace because it isnt Yankees discussion? The move was posted on MLB.com, which I do look at every day.

As has been proven time and time again, you just have nothing intelligent to say about ANY baseball talk...Yankees or otherwise.
