Autographing Advice Needed

I am going to be going to an event in which I know that Jamaal Tinsley will be in attendance and meeting with/signing autographs for a group of Iowa State University alums. I am considering having him autograph one of his rookie cards that feature him in his Iowa State jersey (2001 Upper Deck Star Rookie #212, 2001 Upper Deck Pros & Prospects #95 that is numbered on the front 0406/1000, and 2001 HIT #11). Would there be any additional value to having him sign the numbered card (Upper Deck Pros & Prospects #95) versus one of the others?
Also, what is the preferred type of utensil for autographing cards (sharpie, ball point pen, other)? Thank you for any advice that you are able to give me in order to maximize the value of my collection.

Do not use a ball point pen!!!!
Use an indelible (quick dry non smear) marker of some sort.......
