1964 Topps Banquet

I'm curious how rare the 35 card set from the 1964 Topps Rookie All-Star Banquet are to find? Just flipping through the Standard catalog and noticed them. I've never heard of them. Anyone have any scans?

I do not have Rose, never seen one. I would imagine the only place a Rose would turn up is in a Mastro-type auction.

  • thanks for the scans, those are pretty neat. they seem like they'd be pretty hard to come upon.

Here's the box they came in. Cards just slid into the side.

Cool stuff - never heard of them until 45 seconds ago.

What are the size of the cards?

  • That box is something else. Nice. If I could only shed my wife, kids, job and wander around the states looking for cool cards and such. [sigh].

The cards are 3" by 5 1/4" and each is meant to represent a "page" in the Banquet program. As Bob has shown, they came in a box.

I had put together about 2/3 of the set when a whole set came up on e-bay sometime back and I bought it. Patience is not a virtue of mine....unlike Bob who is Mr Patience when he want something :-)

    Bob-
You have some of the greatest stuff. What does a set like that go for???? How much would you sell it for if you were to sell it? image

Look at the stats. Richie Allen had a helluva year in '64.

    Shane,
I bought mine for $3,819.22 (including the juice) from Leland's in June of 2004.

When I bought the boxed set on ebay in October of 2004 it went for $ 760, but it was listed as "1964 Topps Vintage Rookie All Star Team Set"...which made it hard to find even if you were looking for it. Ther SCD Catalog though lists the Rose card ( there are others including Staub on that card) at $ 1000 + in prime condition
