Korean coin question....

I have a coin from 1967 that has The Bank of Korea 1967 and a large 1 on one side & a lilly of some sort with Korean characters/letters on the other ! It is a gold color and approx the same size as our dime. Anyone know what denomination it is & what it is made of? It is different from our silver coins in color !!

Sounds like a 1 won which is made of brass and, according to my less than up to date Krause, has a mintage of 48,500,000 and has a value of $1.25 in uncirculated condition.

  • Thanks Cathy, I thought maybe a combination of brass & something else since it is lighter in tone than most brass I have seen !! It was part on a group of coins that my grandfather had !! I am just curious about a few of them !!

The flower is a Rose of Sharon. The Korean text reads, "One Won, Bank of Korea."
