  • You need to get the regular card savers, not the card saver II's.

This is actually a good deal if you can use this many. I usually pay $12 + tax for a box of 200 at my local card shop and this auction works out to about $10 per 200.
  • Thanks Steve!
  • Why does PSA not like cardsaver 2s? When I send in submissions, I always use cardsaver 2s and never had a problem, but I see in their forms, they say don't use those. Why? They seem perfectly fine to me.
  • I think its because Card Saver 1s are larger, and easier to get the cards out of. I don't know the process of removing a card from the holder, but I wouldn't be suprised if the Card Savers are cut for removal... though hopefully this isn't the case. In the end, its just easier to get your fingers into a Card Saver 1.
  • Easiest to buy from the manufacturer www.cardboardgold.com.

  • Actually, CS2's are not the best packaging for your cards in terms of maintaining their condition. When sleeved, the limited pocket creates pressure around the corners. It is easier to damage the cards when loading/unloading as well as eluded to above. CS1's are just better for your cards. You'll see the difference right away when you start using them. Although they do not fit in a standard "shoebox" like CS2's, CS1's work nicely in Vault boxes.
This link should help you out quite a bit...

****NOTE: Most collectors actually load cards improperly into CS1's as well. Don't push the card all the way down inside of the sleeve. Try to keep equal amounts of space around each side of the card... "center" the card--if you will. Also, loading them so the cards' reverse is facing front also helps flatten the card out and maintains a sharper corner. Lastly, if a "penny" sleeve is used, simply clip the corner off of the "penny" to avoid chipping enamel off of a corner or edge. The card will load much easier when you don't have to aim perfectly. I personally don't use penny sleeves anymore, but some guys swear by 'em.****

***FINAL TIP: If you have a card that is really nice that has a slightly funky corner (light blunt or curl) that needs a gentle push, simply load the card upside down and sink it deeper into the CS1. The weight of a sturdy hard-cover book can work wonders when placed on such a card.***

    Phil-

Some good tips! Thanks. I never load them backwards but I see how it makes sens and will do so. I completely see how that can damage some corners of cards that still have the fresh bend.

PSA will take Card Saver II's without a problem. I just assume that the graders can get them out of a Card Saver I better. Really though think about, when your sending cards in for grading, who is the LAST person in the world that you want to piss off? The grader. I would do just about anything to put that grader in a good mood right before he judges my cards. I'd even spray a sweet smelling perfume all over my packaging if I thought it would help.
