Home Metal Detecting

Finally got my first silver of the year!!

Hit the lot again today, had a little fun as I took my 7 yr old out and planted a couple of coin's for her.She got a WLH and a V nickel, which she was excited about.
Know I got exited when I finally popped out my first silver of the year!!
Thought it was a barber at first, till I noticed that it had a pony tail
imageWell got home and did a little search on it and found out it is a Napolian 1850A 50 centimos, this is my first non U.S. silverimage

Then later I got this old bullet, gold plated charm and a glass button.

Old French silver!! What a great find!!

If of interest, here's a site with an overview of some French coin types. Your coin would be KM#769.
At the top of the page is a link to a (rough) price guide by KM# and condition (don't know how accurate it is though.. image ) and actual silver weight (ASW) in ounces.

How did it look coming out of the ground? (It looks quite shiny right now - I might retone it a bit myself to give it a more 'circulated' look)
Minelab: GPX 5000, Excalibur II, Explorer SE. White's: MXT, PI Pro

After checking out the link Zot posted, I could almost see the date of the coin in your pic...

    Sweet find Tomimageimage
  • Thank's for the replie's and Zot thank's for that link.Actually the coin doesen't look that shiny,it was from the flash of my camera that made it look that way.The only thing I did cleaning wise was run it under the faucet for a little bit.

Know the what I thought was a charm, turned out to be a Chinese button from the 1850's-1860's,cool!!HH,Tom
