HWCA live

Is anybody watching? I have serious bids on some Cyprus 1901 colourfull proofs.
Canada (also a C) is up right now and I have to go to bed. I hope I'll look at this thread with pride tomorrow.

I didn't realize The Village People were still performing live.
Victoria 3 Piastres 1901, KM4, Proof 67 PCGS, a Gem quality coin with exquisite toning comprised of blue, orange and russet.
Perhaps the finest known; we have seen no others graded this high.
Victoria 9 Piastres 1901, KM6, Proof 65 PCGS, deep gray toning on the obverse with wonderful, multi-toned patina on the reverse.
The toning on the reverse is the most attractive this cataloger has seen on any coin!
Congrats to all the winners, thanks for the good luck wishes.

Nice grabs Dimitri......
I may watch today, but I bid on zero lots.
I'm kind of hoping the one I like will be put on post auction sale. The reserve price was absurd, especially since the picture was poor and the coin was uncertified (which to me means there may someting wrong with it - cleaning or some such thing).

Kudos for the Cyprus prizes - - they've found a nice comfy abode to spend many years ......

Tom, I have the same approach with you, but this time I've noticed several uncertified British lots that the cataloguer was presenting as superbly preserved examples that their consignor(s) simply preferred to sell raw, including some very pretty proof half and full sovereigns. The only British lot on which I bid (and lost), was this 1927 proof wreath crown, that was apparently bought by the previous owner directly from the mint in 1927!

I only bid on an 1877 Straights Settlements 20 cent piece in EF. Within hours of faxing in my bid on Friday I was outbid. There was nothing else that I felt I really "needed" for my collection, though there were many distractions.

I won two lots, including a 1908 Newfoundland 50c for my AU set.
I'm still kicking myself for not bidding higher on the MS62 1911 -- it went for a bargain price.

I agree there are a few that match that description. I still can't bring myself about to pay 100% over Spink for a fairly common date. The coin in question is one of the pieces in the post auction sale. No one is biting yet.

This coin sold for at least 3 times Krause (maybe even 4 times)!

I absolutely agree.
And now, Dimitri, since you have duplicates, I'm sure you wouldn't mind donating those new acquisitions to LoweredMiniVan for the "Vicky Collection"...

This Heritage auction had a large number of Polish coins, but most of the ones I was interested were in very poor shape or too expensive (usually both

LM? I will torture him. I'll take his scalp. I already warned him.
Dear Mike,
after I figure out the smartest way to get them here first, bypassing unneccessary VATs etc,
I'll think again about this issue.
