Holder-related question

Sorry I don't know how to do the direct link to this card on eBay but it's at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1929-R316-Kashin-Pub-Moe-Berg-PSA-8-Hi-End-Find_W0QQitemZ8748036486QQcategoryZ31718QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

My question is regarding the size of the holder (inside) - should the card be able to move around like that ? Nice card I think but I'm wondering about the holder.

eek. That's kinda ugly. I hate the mylar "condoms" as it is. I wonder if they have a different holder...I've seen some cards where they've had the mylar bag and others where they didn't. Maybe someone familiar with this set can offer some insight...
  • These were presumably done on the same day -sent in together atleast. The floppy one I put away and just don't handle it because of the sliding. Wonder why they dont run two heatstrips for support. image

I am confused...both the Ruth cards pictured have the same serial #??????
    Collector of:Baseball
1955 Bowman Raw complete with 90% Ex-NR or better

Now seeking 1949 Eureka Sportstamps...NM condition
Working on '78 Autographed set now 99.9% complete -
Working on '89 Topps autoed set now complete

  • Authentics don't garner a slot in pop. reports... Therefore authentic is authentic and nothing more -a distinct and seperate number is irrelevant per PSA -I reckon. Won't be sending them back anyways, let my heirs figure it out!

Each item should have a unique cert #.....graded or not......... me thinks PSA messed up.......imageimage

  • They likely did mess up that sub., but of greater concern is the movement within. *Perhaps I should return that "loose" one for reholder with next order.

*Paranoid, although we've been lucky with the USPS thusfar, I wonder about shipping movement within the holder (it slides easily) inspite of safe and secure packing. Those cards are a bit crispy, for lack of a better term and packages get manhandled a lot along the way cross country.
  • I appreciate the replies and I have one other question related to this card. I own a card just like it and I have long wondered about the large C-shaped "mark" that is above Moe Berg's signature. It is on my card too - just like this one. I also saw the same thing on another such card. So, it's not a blemish. The weird thing is that I've seen the same card WITHOUT the blemish (more than once). My question is - have you ever seen other card printings like this - where one bunch look one way and another look different, as far as marks like this go?

  • Call 911! Someone's got a Peter caught in their throat!?... I was referring to "authentics". Certainly gradeds' would require a ser. number, but "auth"? Apparently PSA sees no need if there isn't a reason to establish a value, via card condition. Perhaps in the future a simple value may be assigned these cards half of a (50% PSA1) that are handcut then value reduced based on other factors ie; surface, creased etc.

    Correction...
LD58; Good eye, we hadn't noticed before... I checked the serial number and it checks fine, then drop one digit and voila! out pops another W517 Ruth. PSA used the same flip for both cards when two numbers were assigned our order. for both serials#, GRADE= NO . Really don't wanna send it back though.
