You're right that there's no big changes. They seemed to average $150 or so over a year ago and spike to over $200...My question is: where will they go in the years to come?
There was one in PCGS MS65 in the Heritage FUN action today that ended up going for just over $3,700 (with the juice), which is the highest I've seen one go for. Some of the other higher-end MS Ike prices seem to have softened a tad.....just not the Type 2's.
Wow, only $6K each for the 72-d and 77-d. I almost could have afforded that (well, had I not bought the 19-d Lincoln). I would have had to have traveled to see the coins though if I was going to spend that much.
I honestly feel that they are selling at a fraction of their value. A ms 63 is selling at $ 250.00 to $ 300.00 right now. However, in the future, most examples will grade AU-58, and below. If you look at the " 3 legged buffalo", it will give anyone a pretty good idea of what the Ike figures will look like. The true value of a MS 63 should be at $ 450.00. Also, the MS 64 population is about half of published results, due to the many, many, multiple submissions.
The 72-D and 77-D were DOGS. I veiwed them live in person.
I placed very conservative bids on both.
Neither coin would come close to making 67 today. The 72-D had some larger very visible marks on the forehead. the 77-D had some similar marks. Very disappointed in both.
The 73-D was decent as was the 76-D Type II. The 74-D was average for a 67.
Overall the price was commensurate with the quality.
Buy nice ones and you'll reap bigger profits later.

I was interested in both coins but was unexpectedly gone for 3 days and completely forgot to bid before I left,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, GLAD I didn't bid now!!!!!
I agree completely with the comparison to the 3 leg Buffalo. The total mintage is the same and the POP's are very similar. The only big difference is the number of collectors. The Buffalo is a GREAT coin and will always have a lot of demand. The Ike is only proceeded in ugliness by the SBA (I can say that, I collect both). What the Ike has going for it is its size and the fact that it is a dollar coin. There is something about the largest circulating denomination coin that makes it attractive to collectors.
I think the price of the T2 1972 Ike's has no where to go but up!
