PayPal question when you have funds available.

I am trying to pay for something on PayPal with my credit card in which I've had registered since Day 1. The problem is PayPal will not give me the option to use it. Is it because I have funds available in my PayPal account? Is it just a way for them to avoid fees? It is VERY frustrating. I simply do not wish to use my current available funds for this particular purchase.

  • use the "change funding options" (or something similar) near the bottom of the Pay page...
  • My experience with PayPal is that they will deduct whatever funds are in your account, before they go to a "secondary" funding option. I don't believe that they pay, or want to pay interest on a positive balance in your account.
They will clear that out first.
  • Yup - it's because you have funds in your account. What I've done in the past is "send" my funds to another account, which is not really another account but really a phoney email address. This will remove the funds and show the transaction as pending. Then pay for your item with your credit card. Now, you just go back and cancel the transfer request that's pending. That'll put the funds back in your account. Or... you could just move the funds to your bank account.

    This is correct.
If you have a balance then it comes out of it. The credit card is only available if the amount of your purchase is more then the funds in your account or of course there is no funds in your account.

if you do any selling from that account I would not leave any funds in your paypal account. one little email from a buyer and your funds will be frozen or maybe taken from you.
