Ugliest 7 ever?

I was looking for PSA graded Great Ones and came across this 7. I thought that the guy must have the worst scanner ever since the card's surface looks all scuffed up. But, in reading the auction, he states that the scuff marks are on the card. But, the good news is that the card would have graded an 8 or 9 without them.

I have many 7's in my collection and all look about two grades higher than this. I actually have seen 2's and 3's with better eye appeal. Ouch.

Agreed...What was or were the grader(s) thinking.

The grader was probably thinking that the card was submitted by someone who sends them MASS amounts of cards, thus contributing to his salary alot more than your average guy does.

  • You know bri2327 I hate to think it but you may have something there, even if it is subliminal. I have a friend who owns a store. Initially he sent a few items in to PSA a few years ago and got a Ted Williams and a Mantle kicked back. then he started sending in MASS shipment of 20 or 30 items, jerseys, bats, helmets, etc. at a time.
Since that first rejection shipment, he has had nothing bounce. He attributes this to his "SKILL" in evaluating items before submission. But I still have to wonder.
I have several items I would like certified, but I would like him to submit them, even though I am 95% certain they are legitimate, I like his odds better than my initial submission. Text

Unless you mean mass amounts per order, don't they remove the names of submitters, so as to remove any bias?

Maybe he was just hung over.

They say graders do not know who submitted an item.

It was the infamous "313" grader that everyone has been crying about lately.

Seems to have a lot of ink problems for a 7. But then again, I would guess a lot of people would pass on the card at smr?

    I've seen worse myself.
