If there's enough interest, I can do the 80s. Some of the sets look pretty sparse. Which should be included?

    Mike,

To make it consistent with the others--probably everything.

  • Frank,
I know that Mike had offered to do an 80's if there was interest. I could see form the overwhelming response that there was not. A bit surprised because the 85 and 86 sets seem very active. Add 81, 84, and 89 Score and I could see a bit of interest. Counted the sets and there are currently 35 without a tremendous number more that could pop up. If I was trying to sell these as a few guys do who sell very high grade copies, I would want this extra marketing push.
Anyway, I looked today and only a handful of sets will even qualify for awards this year. Most of the sets have only one or two entrants, usually less than 20%. So after deciding to do the work for this one, I changed my mind due to general lack of interest. When it gets to the 90's and above...... too many sets for me to handle.
By the way, from glancing at a few of these..........MOSH would have won this one too.

  • Although the Olypmpics is fun, I don't even pursue the Registry for glory. I collect and upgrade without regard to registry points. I mentioned the 90's and 00's jokingly, thinking my SP authentic sets would dominate. Thanks for reminding me of MOSH's presence in that arena. There are so many small insert sets that are listed and that they own. I concentrate on SP Authentic because of the quality of product and the reasonable size of the sets. I recently "upped" by interest in these products by not only doing the regular sets, but also pursuing the Sign of The Times, Mark of Legend, Script for Success and Incredible Inks autograph subsets.

  • I will be jumping heavily into the ring for 80's football and back into the running for the 70's. I for one would love an 80's olympics but i wont be competing for awhile so it can wait.

    Updated!

Standings are as of July 18. Sorry, I'm slow these days.

Thanks again, Fuzz, for the updates.
  • I'd be interested in the 80s Olympics as well.
  • I DEMAND A INQUIRY my topps game card set is #1 and i only get a silver man you guys are tough lol

I mean yea after all i could understand if they were round.

Wait i understand now the cards are not round just the corners that does make for a down grade

But just keep that in mind when it comes to coaster boy.

Sorry to still things up Mike @ Fuzz but its just been to quiet on the smack talk front from us footballers.

Wolfs is off playing Europeon vacation, I am sure watching a scrum here and there to get his fix.
Not to mention taking in many pubs talking smack and telling the locals what real football is and of course how we drink Scotch Whiskey here in the old USA

Jim has just been to quit i think hes aready plotting his January card lotto image

Shouldabeen well the name says it all

Pure mint Mike well i kinda understand HE IS MARRIED NOW.

Frank is to busy adding all his psa 9,s and 10,s

Mosh is to busy selling trying to raise cash to hold off the world ( MAINLY FRANK )

Fuzz with fall in just 5 days his hiatus was known in advance as we all know that fuzz,s hibirnate

And for me i have just been to busy trying to figure out what team is worse my BELOVED REDSKINS or my fantasy football team.

OK NOW IS I CAN JUST GET MIKE TO ADD THOSE REDSKINS TEAM SETS TO THE OLYMPIC COUNT ?

  • Dear Sir,
I respectfully suggest that at your last purusal of the standings .............. you must have been blasted.
Not only second, but a distant second. In fact just a couple of upgrades from fourth.
Rightous indignation is great but so often used only by those that come up short. In this case son, none of us measure up well against the first set.
OK, I admit that I need to publicly get on these guys a bit more but time has been a constraint. These standings were not updated for about two months and the others longer. Though I would like to point out that in the 70's I went shooting by Shouldabeen like he was standing still. Those round cards just don't hold up under pressure.
I'll see what I can do to turn up the heat a bit................ but geez Art, it is still 98 degrees down here today. My team is 0-2. Hard to be thinking FB.

    Art,

I'm really, really, really trying to believe that your last typo was done on purpose ... Ya know, for comical effect or something?

However the more I think about it ... I just can't quite convince myself that it was.

Hey Fuzzy, I completely missed your little shot at my "award winning, fine round collectibles" the first time I read this post. Nice to see you're still peeking in your rear view mirror at me ... sweating the inevitable!

If my freak'n 60's submission (sent in almost 2 months ago) ever gets graded ... I should be taking a couple of those 60's olympic medals off your neck again. As for the 70's, I got scared off after my beautiful test batch of Kellogg's came back with about 40 PSA 9's and only 2 PSA 10's.

For now, I think I'll just stick to blowing by you in the 50's and 60's before I get too serious with the 70's stuff. But you have fun til I get there!

  • BCD,
You are correct regarding the 79 set. It is my fault as I compiled the tables this time. Please accept my apology for the error and I will try to send our gracious host new tables to reflect this. Lord knows I do not want to offend any one who is helping fend off the empire.

    Hey Fuzz,

I just went and looked at the 60's olympic set standings. Wow ... I didn't realize how far ahead you'd pulled. It looks like you've been a busy little beaver lately.

But you know what the sign says ... "Objects in rearview may be closer than they appear" image

  • Mike,
I didn't forget about you my friend....... just hadn't had time to take the clean shot.
Now it is clear that you are the one I am focused on and even though I have a 12 to 1 lead, I lose sleep at night. I don't woory about the Dav's, Skinsfan, Wolfbear, Wang and the like. All that they have going for them is large budgets, great collections, top notch conections and brains. And let's face where is that going to get them?? It's all about you man.
There is some low habging fruit that has been picked off lately and clearly you have the inventory to take out the rest of those. That could easily make this 4 to 1 and that's just another step closer. But, to help crush your resilient spirt, I have started listing some sets that I do not focus on or even really have committed to collect yet. But if Shouldabeen is on there........ then I need to be too. Check those 61 Fleer and 62 Fleer sets. There not that far up the ladder and nothing that anybody serious needs to worry about, but they are just in front of my buddy. There are other sets like that as well. Part of the pyscological beat down in my plan. The sets don't have to be good. Just good enough. What the 60's really needed was more round cards.
    Fuzz
PS. I also did not have great luck with my K-Kard subs as well. I even ended up with a few 8's and everything was straight from the unopened envelope. Fear not, they will come in handy as I have an extra special shot coming on those for ya.

  • Now that is the good old smack talk we have all been missing

Fuzz it was my error on those game cards i recall now i was #1 but let the lead go as i just could not bring myslf to go so low as resosting to cards with round corners just for a gold image

Now where is the rest of the crew Jim, Pure mint ,Poor Wolfie may have had 1 to many and missed his plane and as still stuck overseas ,Thank god he took his better half with him at least she can make sure he makes it home image

Frank i was referring to that guy with the golden 65 philly set but yet again i stand corrected mosh is not selling to hold off frank but to try to catch him image and a big group image for anyone holding back the empire.

  • Art,
Are you sure that Wolf didn't stop in Thailand? The picture of the guy leading the coup could have been him.
First the 62 Fleer set, then a small Asain country. Where will he stop??
And Art you may not have wanted to win Gold with those round corners but you put on a serious move to get to silver!

  • Well at least you guys have dropped that evil stuff.
I am very sensitive you know, I was starting to get a little complex.

Been playing it cool lately, still a long way to the next deadline.
    Just been enjoying the football.

I don't know about holding back the Empire. The barbarians are at the gate and I'm running low on spears and boiling oilimage
I have been concentrating more on my SP Authentic sets. Especially the autograph subsets. Not many people are doing those sets and there is a ready supply of raw. I only run into a problem with the exchange auto cards or the cards numbered under 250. Those can be hard to find.

    Jeremy,

Did you enjoy the Ravens defense last weekend, and those 49 fantasy points? I was screaming at the TV for the last few minutes of that game, hoping to suck 1 more point out of it ... just so I could hit that 50 point mark for you!

Although I'm sure you'll bounce back this weekend against Wolf's little gang of misfits.

Speaking of misfits .... Hey Art, How's the air down there at the very bottom of the pile? image

  • Nice job Mike, but al you did was get me fired up for the rematch. I figured it out, even if I had Grossman I would have lost.
Just a real solid week for you, and my points weren't all that bad.

Goal is just to make the playoffs, I want one of those YAHOO trophies, so I'd better at least show this year.

Looking forward to some great games this Sunday. Some very good match ups.
    Jeremy
  • Jeremy,
It is nothing personal you know but we didn't drop the evil........ it is just understood.
These FB guys view anyone ahead of them on the list as evil. Afterall, even a nice guy like me had/has his own anti-fan club.
You are also evil if you try to buy cards that anyone else wants. Are ahead of them on the Olympics chase. Like a team that they don't. Compete with them in fantasy FB or really breath air they might want to breath later.
Embrace the dark side. Have fun with it. And then punish them severely when the next high card they need pops up.
