I do hope the whiter spots at the top and bottom of the reverse are just reflections from his flash, and not actually on the coin.
That one has a nice look to it.

All the '04 silvers come nicely struck because they were a very low mintage. And because many were sold -- at the time of release -- as collectibles, they're one of the easiest dates in the early US-PI silvers to find in unc and gem unc. They're often very attractive.
I haven't been buying the US-Philippines as intensely as I once did, but I think with $79 you could easily buy a nice AU with all the eye appeal of that coin but less wear. And perhaps you'd even be able to land an MS60/61.
But in any case, you have a lovely coin that you'll be able to enjoy -- and that's what counts.
Best wishes,

I must have missed something, but where did the $79 figure come from? The auction linked to was for $22.
As far as the coin itself, my first thought upon seeing the obverse was "residual solder from a mount" but I see now how it could be something else. It doesn't look like normal flash/reflection... too irregular; if it is, it's reflection off a fault of some sort (IMO).
I like the toning of the piece, but those problem points would have scared me away...

I am new to this Philam coinage............I agree with you I don't know what the bright spot are but for $22 not an expensive lesson.
I have lucked out lately with a 29M 20 cetaveo Doubled die and last week (just received today) a 50 centavo MacArthur doubled die for $3bucks & change...........
I will have to wait til I get it in hand to see 1. what the shiney spots are and 2 Might could it be a proof..............Rick

I believe what Mr. Fun was refering to is that for the $79 price I could get a better coin...............Rick

Is the coin proof? I was wondering that myself. It has a clarity of strike and detail that made me think this was a possibility. But I can't tell from the picture and am not sure I'd be able to tell from the coin itself, in such worn state.
Doesn't matter, though, does it? It's a lovely coin, and that's what counts.
The 1929-M Double-Die sounds great. Can you post a scan showing the doubling? I'd love to see it!
Warm regards,
