So some of you may remember me and my exploits with old Frankenstein from back in the day. Well, after Frankenstein went to the gods my interest faded. I picked up an extremely nice Fisher Coinstrike and tried to get back into the swing of things so to speak but something just didn't click so I sold it off and pretty much quit.
A buddy of mine that some of you know has been seeding my brain with evil detectorist mojo again. I'm thinking this time I'm not going to go the route of the nice expensive detector and get something similar to old Frank in the cheapo range. I'll tell you I found thousands of targets with old Frank (some CU MD Forum award winning ones too) and spent most of my time programming and tuning and whatnot with the expensive detector instead of actually detecting.
I haven't decided for sure yet but it may be time for round #3.

There will always be periods of inactivity, when the detector sits in the closet while other things are pursued. I just came off a four month hiatus, myself.
I am lucky to get out eight times a year now, compared to the four or five times a week I used to detect. But I would never let myself be without a detector. The end of the rainbow is always beckoning.
Welcome back to the fold, brother. Now arm thyself with an electronic wand and get busy. It need not be an expensive or fancy one.

Wise words Rob. I'm actually thinking of getting the exact same model that Frank was. It's still in production with a better computer inside this time, same functions though. That damn thing lasted me for years and was about 1/8th the cost of the big boys.
Welcome back Clad!!
<< <i>Dang dude I thought you died! >>
Nah, he just smells that way.
haha very funny LordMinivan!
Ok, update: I just took the plunge. The Frankenstein retails for about $160.00 brand new and I managed to pick up a barely used one that looks to be in excellent condition for just over half of that price. It sure will feel good to put those home made Metal Detector Dweeb Overalls back on again

That's just wrong Joe. LOL Would be interesting though.
Just like Hotel California, you can check out but you can never leave.

My DFX sits in my trunk 24/7 and I am always "wanting" to get into the dirt but never seem to find the spare time lately. I'm hoping to do another ghost town run up to Death Valley, in the next two or three months if I can only find the time.
I've used them again recently- pics and story forthcoming soon.
All put together and stuffed with charged batteries and ready to go. Depending on the home chore list I may very well be able to get out swinging for a bit Sunday afternoon. Oh yeah, it's on!
