Sure would love to see what Wekar found with the detector he won in VTH2.

And Purple... where are ya, man?

There was an explosion and/or fire at the Millennium chemical plant yesterday, where Steve works and derives his forum name from. I heard (secondhand) that there were a lot of emergency vehicles on the scene but that nobody was injured. I need to call him, not only to be sure he's all right, but to ask his advice on pecan shells for the rock tumbler- I have my crusty critters spinning in crushed pecan shells like he says he uses, but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to do it dry or put water in there, too. (I'm running it dry right now).

He's likely to have his hands full for a while, I'd imagine.

  • Whew!......LM was right there was and "explosion" of sorts at my work. Not really a true explosion though, more of a pressure relief failing. It released to a field behind the reactor and started a grass fire. It was contained fairly quickly, but did cause a stir in the community. I have been really, really busy, and have not been able to go MD'ing in quite a while. I am right in the middle of finishing up my second house and putting it on the market...(anyone need a fresh new house?) and coupled with the holidays, it has been a mess, to say the least.

LM, I used just plain shells and no pecans or wetting material in the rock tumbler, but be forwarned, it DOES take a while. The results are worth it though. The chocolate brown color that the coins are given it more realistic than the typical cleaning on copper..

In any event, I am ok, and no one was hurt in the incident. As a matter of fact, they were back in operation in a short time at the plant.

I'll get to MD'ing again soon, and hope to post some goodies again...
