Stupid Pujols Ebay Story

Back on the 9th of December I won the Ebay auction 8734503482. The seller was relatively "NEW" so I paid on the 11th using PayPal customer credit, just in case.
On the 12th I received an email from the seller telling me that the address that he had attached to the auction was not "VERIFIED" and asked would I send him another payment to a completely different address at yahoo.
I wrote the seller two emails within 30 minutes asking him why he had an incorrect address attached to his auction account, I also pointed out that the PayPal transaction information in my account showed completed and I was out $114 until he sent it back. Of course I got no response from the seller.
I received another email from the seller on the 14th asking me when I was going to pay to the second address.
Also at this time I looked at the last 30 days of the sellers activity and there was strong indication of another party also registered in the same geographic area as the seller in Michigan, bidding on a lot of his auctions. In one auction that concluded around midnight on a Friday, feedback was left by the buyer at 9:30am on the following Monday. I have never seen anything work quite that fast.
I called PayPal and explained the situation to them so they sent emails to both addresses that I had for the seller. They told the seller to issue me a credit and reinvoice.
I heard nothing.
On the 16th I called PayPal again and was told to file a claim on the auction even though it had only been a week since the completion of the auction.
Later when I checked the auction, it showed that the item had not been paid for, so I thought that a credit was in the offing. I even tried calling the seller but got a recording, where I left a message. Of course I received no response.
On the 17th I received an email from the seller telling me that if I did not pay for the item by midnight, he was going to resell the item. So looking at the closed auction information showing "NO PAYMENT SENT" I clicked and repaid for the auction.
On the 22nd I got an email from the seller telling me that he had mailed the item.
On the 24th I received communication from PayPal that they had recredited my account for the $114 from the claim for the original payment.
So I'm thinking everything worked out.
Wrong.
On the last day of the year I was searching items for sale and came across the acution 8744697290, by the same person, selling the helmet Topps Reserve Pujols autographed helmet #327/475 that I had won on Dec 9th and now had paid for two seperate times.
I waited until the second auction was about 4 hours from completion and contacted PayPal again, explaining this entire mess. I was told to file another claim for the second payment. They also told me that PayPal has a quirk that when you file a claim for a completed/paid auction, it then shows the auction as no longer being paid for even though the claim has not been settled. So when I paid for the auction the second time, the system showed that the item was paid for again but then after a few days defaulted to the initial pay/claim and removed the record of the second payment from the auction information.
If the seller had bothered to look at his paypal account he would have seen the double payment with a claim filed on the first payment.
Needless to say this is a mess.
