Yes Chicago's defense had a great year...and he's the most visible face on it...but how does one give him the award? Wouldn't someone like Dwight Freeny be a more suitable pick? Urlacher's bears had the best defense, but Freeny totalled 11 sacks and forced teams to gameplan around him. How many teams are gameplanning to take Urlacher out of the game?
