1695 and 1696 English Crowns

Does anyone know if Crowns dated 1695 continued to be minted into 1696?

Although I don't know for sure, I would doubt it as there are 1696 dated Crowns.
I can't speak about coins minted in that era, but I can assure you that coins minted in the 1800s certainly saw that sort of thing take place on a regular basis.
For example, based on the samples from Freeman, one publication hints at the possibility that 80% of the pennies minted in 1869 were dated 1868. The mintage of coins for 1869 (nearly 2.6 million) included all coins dated 1868, otherwise there would be no legitimate explanation for why the 1869 penny is considered to be so rare. Meanwhile, the mintage figure for 1868 is under 1.2 million - less than half that of 1869, yet it is worth 1/3 as much.
