Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards 2006

My friend purchased the very thick book, Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards for 2006 recently.

My question is this. Do the numbers in the index in the back of this huge book refer to page numbers?

If so, are many of these referenced pages in error in this edition as we could not find many of the cards on the designated pages after consulting the indices at the back of the book.

If this is the case, has a corrected index been issued?
