    Looks like some serious doubling to me, but I believe this type of doubling is referred to as "recutting" of letters. To me, it's cool looking, but from what most people say, it's not too valuable, if at all. It occurs frequently on British coins of the 19th century, for example.

  • Strike doubling caused by a looseness in the press that allows the dies to shift slightly during the strike. No premium value. It isn't recutting, the US mint has not practiced recutting (with a couple minor exceptions) since the early 1800's and I only know a couple cases after 1836.

    I stand corrected.

    I still love all types of doubling, however.
