Proof Jeff Gang: Did you see this 1952 at Heritage?

While in Dallas over the holidays, I visited Heritage and previewed the FUN coins. Obviously, focused on the silver proofs and Jeffs and some toned Franklins. I think I looked at 500 coins culled from all the coins via the web site. The most striking one of the 500 was this 1952 Jeff PR67 DCAM.

I did my best but lost it in the end. Awesome coin. Actually looked like a high grade PR68 DCAM. Beautiful coin.

  • Thanks for the link. I guess you had to see it in person to appreciate it. It looks like it could be a 67 or 68 from the photos, but I just can't see strong contrast in the photos. It clearly had the contrast judging by the price realized. That has to be one of the toughest 50s dates for DCAM Jeffs...

I was watching that coin as well - wish I could have seen it in hand.

With the absolutely horrible pictures, there is no way I would bid strongly for the coin based on those pics and the label on the plastic. If I were the seller, I would be quite irritated that Heritage cannot take a picture that would maximize the bidding.

Glad you were able to see it and let us know it was the 'real deal'. It will be interesting to see where it surfaces.

It's a good thing there was a floor auction because Heritage's crappy DCAM proof images sure don't encourage strong bidding.
