Arent they supposed to working on a remake of Slapshot ? At least thats what I had heard a while back.
A little side note on slapshot.......the movie, team, and people portrayed in it were based on a minor league hockey team that played near me years back, the Long Island Ducks.....there were brothers on the team that literally got into fights almost every night before the national anthem even begun. Now the team is long defuct, and the long island arena where they played was torn down to build a TARGET shopping center........what a pity !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That set was the first hockey set I ever collected as a kid. I was a HUGE hockey fan and my friends and I spent hours and hours playing with that set, flipping, trading, etc. I know that set probably better than any set I ever collected as a kid. And I know I had a complete set.
But I'll be damned if I recognize that card.

Maybe not the best way for an "amatuer" to introduce himself to this board, but (I like trivia)....The actress who played Paul Newman's wife in Slap Shot (Melinda Dillon??) also played Ralphie's mother in "A Christmas Story".....Wish Ralphie would shoot the Bruins' owner eye out..

I love that movie! And the mad a sequel but it went straight to video and I hears the only of the same people that were in it were the Hansen Brothers. "We're putting on the foil coach."
I never saw the sequel (I believe the sequel starred one of the Baldwin brothers) but I know they started a marketing campaign around that time where they were selling Charlestown Chief Jerseys.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

That is because it is an O-Pee-Chee card. #238 from the 1973 set. The Topps set was 198 cards, the OPC set was 264 cards. Another card not in Topps, but in OPC was Terry O'Reilly's Rookie.
73-74 Topps were the first hockey cards I bought. Tough set to find in nice condition, stupid colored borders. Would like to have a nice Marcel Dionne from OPC or Topps, I believe the Topps is a yellow border and the OPC is red? Is one of my favorite hockey players.
