States that card is in NM-MT condition, you can see it is in some type of holder, PSA? No statement as to being in a holder?

Wonder why he doesn't say which holder?

Also, I think the card is near mint - he has it as Nr-Mt - some guys write it that way which can be misleading. If it's near mint - I would write it Nrmt.

    Did you contact them?

An old dinosaur of the low ball shoebox show offer days.

No longer relevent to the game.

    Over weight, over grader.

You remember the type: sitting in a lawn chair behing his table, wolfing down Big Macs, belching out an outrageous price for some low-grade greased stained card.

    Loves me some shiny!

Kit Young was a major player 15-20 years ago. But my favorite fat guy was Big Bob from the early 90's. Up there with Smokey's when it came to ethics. ADVERTISED everywhere. I remember when I called him after a nice size $$$ order was late. How did he want to make it up to me?--By selling me more cards!!

I remember Big Bob! He was from my state, and ran a retail card store there. It seemed like he had a big wholesale / mail order business going on in the back of the store (large area) where most of his business came from. That was back in the day when you bought "investment lots" of 100 Craig Jeffries rookie cards (for example) hoping to hit it big - and if you brought him anything to sell, he offered you 10%-15% of book, which was I believe Baseball Cards magazine at the time.

He had a grand opening sale raffle, first prize was a 1989 UD Baseball Set sealed. I won it - still have it today. Time (and the internet) wasn't as kind to Big Bob, though - I believe there's a Chinese restaurant today where his store once stood.

I take they have more than one, how can they show a picture of a card and that is not the one you are going to get?? Here is their response:

are you looking for graded or non-graded? please call tollfree 888 548 9686 ask for rob rosen..he will help you thanks.

This kind of stuff just irritates the crap out of me.

Edit: sent them this message back:

Your auction shows a graded card, I figured the card you are selling is graded. Your auction does not state, if you win, it will be of our choosing of one NR-MT card? If someone wins the auction are they going to win the card shown?

Depends on the final bid amount. The higher the bid the nicer the card.

This was their last response to my question:

    .did you call rob yet? 858 259 1300 or tollfree 888 548 9686

it's a lot quicker to describe a card by phone than to email back and forth by letters thanks kit young cards.

    Guess this is going nowhere.

At least they offered you a toll free number - which is not a big deal anymore since most people have unlimited LD.

It CAN be described easily via email - is the card graded? If so, by whom? Will I get the card in the pic?
Or is that a file copy?

Are you going to call them?

    Good luck

My guess is it's a PSA 6 that he's hoping to sell for PSA 7 money. SMR on a 7 is $90.

Mike is right - how hard is it to say "The card in the picture is the actual card you will get. It is a PSA ___, or it is a raw card. Thank you for asking" "Now, my French Fries are getting cold, so will you excuse me?"

Why even bother bidding on this one?

He was doing that at all of the shows I worked at in the early 80s.

    Any news on this?

My thoughts are simply if it sells at 110.00 he cracks it out of the PSA 6 case and sends it out raw as near mint or whatever he claimed it was.

If it does not sell he simply keeps it slabbed.
