Why is #3 playing #22?

I know there is another thread about the game itself.

But, why is the #3 team playing the #22 team? I can see #1 vs. #2, #4 vs. #6, #9 vs. #11 and so on.

But why this? A Penn State win proves nothing. Why are they not playing at least a Top 10 Team. This seems opposite of the BCS process and just seems unexplainable to me.

  • bcs is retarded

they lock into conference championships rather than going to 3 vs 4 and 5 vs 6

and since fsu lucked out and fell backward into their championship with 4 unranked losses, we have this matchup

    lucked out?? ranked 22??

this looked more like #2 v #3. PSU only proved that they were over rated!

FSU didn't deserve this game, but the stupid BCS automatic bowl bid for conference winners meant a 4 loss team was in one the elite games.

  • Why is #3 playing #22?

It's payback for the All Crap Conference raiding the Big East out of 3 ranked football schools. The greedy ACC bass turds got their ACC championship game and made it possible for a 7-4 team to become their champion and represent them in the BCS. Way to go!!

With Miami and Va Tech declining, the ACC may still be looking forward to basketball season every year anyway.

husker...you are just chapped cause the ACC is always in the hunt and your team always sucks. Nebraska would never schedule
an ACC team, cause they need to win

<< <i>Nebraska would never schedule an acc team

fsu was beaten by penn state

my beloved miami hurricanes were beaten rather handily by lsu

vt won but showed no class( marcus vick)

and fsu and miami beat virginia tech

acc isn't scaring too many people these days......... pac 10 is better than us this year

Doofus, they played Wake Forest this year, and beat them. Unlike F$U, Nebraska's football team does not have problems beating ACC basketball schools.

We are still waiting for you to pay off your bet -- let's see that PSU pic in your sig line!!

This is yet another reason why the average sports fan does not get that excited about college football postseason, as opposed to the fever that surrounds "March Madness".

Forget the "Office Depot / Home Depot / FedEx / Whatever" Bowl, and give us a playoff system.

CTsoxfan, your perspective may be slanted -- New England (and perhaps the Northeast in general) is really the only region which does not worship college football -- believe me, I have lived in Texas, the South, California, and the Midwest, and they ALL love college football.

Coinhusker, that is a good point. I know in my travels around the country, that certain areas (like you mentioned) place college football at the top of the list when it comes to fan support. I know that here in the NE, college basketball has far more support, and it is probably because of the great programs that exist here.

Still, I believe that a college football playoff would get more people interested in college football, nationwide. But is seems like this is a movement that has lost support in recent years.
