And I didn't know. So I figured it up and broke it down by category.

I'm up to 179 silver coins, out of 284 "keeper" coins, total. Which might sound impressive until you consider that I've been detecting on and off for more than twenty years. My inactivity of the last few years has hurt my batting average!

Yeah, but that's decades worth of work for me. Some other folks have similar (or better) numbers in a lot less time!

oooh thats a tough one for me. i have a bag in my safe with probably at least 4-500 silver roosvelts, merc dimes, war nicks and washingtons.
for the better coins without looking.....

One of my earliest goals was to find a silver foreign. It's still out there waiting for me. Still haven't found any bust coinage, and despite finding 6 seated dimes, I'm still looking for a seated quarter or half.

I keep my "found in change" keepers separate but in the same 3-ring binder as my detected coins:

walking liberty half: 1 -- I "eyeballed" this one walking on one of my rental properties. Just lying in the dirt, waiting for me to pick her up

I've found 1!. Yes, that's correct, one. A 1942 -s Jefferson war nickel. I've been hunting since August (2005).

Mdless, that ain't a bad ratio. I haven't been hunting at all since August. And if not for that freak find of the small cache last spring, I wouldn't have been silvered at all in 2005.
