    I haven't followed this card's value at all. So, I'll guess that it's $150.

It is rare when 4SC puts a reserve on a card........image

  • What are your thoughts on 4SC? They have like eight hundred different usernames for some reason. I think their shipping is high of course but they have loads of stuff. Also, it takes a little bit longer than most dealers to get the product but I find myself buying from them often.

    $165 card w/ a reserve?

Must be a mistake of some sort, that is pretty miserly of our friends over there at four sharp corners...

On a related note, I wouldn't mind having some of the 100's and 1000's of cards that 4SC views and chooses NOT to send to psa, I am sure there are some beauties that never see grading light of day.

I have bought from them many times and have never had a problem.

4SC will sometimes fish with a reserve to get a feel of what a card may bring - looking to hook people like MOSH. If the reserve is not met, then they will often relist the card with a buy-it-now price that's just over the high non-winning reserve price.

Winning multiple items from 4SC on the same day.......only to find out that they were listed under different EBAY stores, (they have three) and then not being able to combine S/H.................That is my only complaint about them.

lostdart58, I had the same problem this week, and I wasnt too happy either. I won 6 auctions of theirs, then bought another 18 graded cards from their store, and they wouldnt combine shipping from the two. I sent emails to the auction name, and the store name, and the reply was the same, that they were different, with different employess, so they couldnt combine. Yet, when i checked the emails again, they were sent from the same woman working there, from the same email address......so apparantly someone works in BOTH of them...otherwise I've had no problems with them aside from slightly slow shipping.

I'm okay with 4SC because they grade stuff that others don't. Plus, they combine shipping (under one of their multiple IDs) even if an item ended a week or two ago. It's a great part of their service.

Now, you have to take the good with the bad though. I've never encountered slow shipping from them, but I have had to take that horrible multiple ID shipping charge before. Won three cards...one from 4SCFootball, one from 4SCBaseball and one from 4SCStore. So, I've just waited until I won a few more cards and then paid for them at that point.

All in all, I'm glad they're around because of the things that they grade. I'd rather they take the chance on getting an "8" on a modern card than me! image

Being an avid 83 football collector I noticed this auction too. I was very surprised to see a reserve on one of 4sc auctions. I also noticed 4sharp corners football hasnt had an auction in a while , whats up with that?
They also had a reserve on the 83 Montana psa 10 that was met around 300 bucks. I was very surprised the reserve was so high on that card, I have seen several go for under $250.

I have also purchased from 4SC, but last couple of times have not received any communication of when cards are shipped. They seem to be getting slower at getting items shipped out. Won auction on the 12th of Dec. Pay by Paypal that day, still have not received cards?? No mention of when or if they have been shipped out.

The auction ended on 12/23, & was also paid on 12/23! I think they deserved a short "holiday break", no? In any event, ...even with Xmas and New Year's, they shipped my items in 10 days!
I'm still very satisfied with 4SC. image

I've never had any problems with them.

I'm wondering if they reserved that card because of how the 83 Singletary PSA 10 turned out. I forget what SMR was but that card went for $910. I'm certain SMR is well below that, but I'd have to check to see the actual value.
  • tennesseebankertennesseebanker Posts: 5,433 ✭✭✭
Geez, Louise ! Somebody paid $910 for a singletary ! SMR is $215, I have seen them go for under $200 sometimes. I would have sold my whole #5 registry set for that.

Notice the absence of PSA 10's (...of the #33 McMahon RC) in the PSA registry sets. Maybe 4SC noticed this too? If this is so, ...a pretty smart observation of them! (...maybe the majority of PSA 10 examples are being held by Bears fans, making this card "hard to find"? jmo!)

edit: Hope everyone has a wonderful 2006?
  • My snipe of $133.33 went off but I was outbid, thought about changing to $155.55 about an hour ago but didn't. The 1985 Bears were the first team I liked and McMahon he was fun to watch and I always wanted his rookie card (guess I could just buy a 9 for like $10-15 but the 10 would be cool). The reserve was $100 so not as high as I thought it would be, I figured $150
  • tennesseebankertennesseebanker Posts: 5,433 ✭✭✭
Did anyone see where the highest bidder on the montana 10 retracted thier bid? The thing was $300 at one time then the high bidder retracted thier bid. Now the last time I looked it was about $140. Did anyone ever win it?

Does anyone know who 4SC is? Or where they get their material? They submit things that most other people (dealers) wouldn't bother to and they seem to get some terrific cards, and grades.

    Just curious.

I just got an order in from them, and the cards look great, but one holder looks like it had been tampered with. There are cracks along the edges of the holder, and a few impact marks INSIDE the holder. It's a cheap ($4) PSA 10, and it doesn't make sence to tamper with a card like that. Anyone see stuff like this come from 4SC, or does PSA have a "juggling for beginners" department that the holdered cards go through?

My experience with 4SC: I receive what seems to be pristine, "scratch-free" holders. So I'm under the assumption that 4SC recently had them graded. You received the exception, rather than the rule, I guess?

Sorry to hear that! $4 or $400? It nice to receive a "fresh looking slab", no matter how much it cost!

    edit: bummer!

$4. Cheap. It was a part of a small spending spree on PSA 9s and 10s. I wanted to get some examples of 9s and 10s from various sets that I could use to figure out what a 9 and 10 look like (to assist my pre-grading).

Unfortunatly, 10s and 9s are in some instances indistinguisable. Well, at least I know what a "9 or better" looks like. image

yup and SOME 7,8,9,10's are also indistinguisable and/or PSA not following their own guidlines.
