Raw Russian

This is one of a number of Raw Russian coins I purchased recently. This one image is to whet your appitite-it's the least expensive but also has a wonderful chocolate luster that I love.

<< <i>nice coin and it seems Russian coinage is moving well. There was a time when it seemed quite common and sold at a discount. I think those days are over for now. >>
And probably forever.
Nice coin, Laurent!

Nice 3K! Hard to find these pieces at the discount prices of the past anymore as CoinKat said. I used to see nice stuff like this commonly and I regret each piece that I did not buy. I don't think Russian coins will be coming down in price anytime soon either, unfortunately.
Regarding that 1915 20K piece, I have several minor silver pieces, especially from the time period of 1900-1915 which have that gunk on them but are in otherwise uncirculated condition. I don't think it is rust or corrosion, and I have never attempted to clean them so I really don't know what that stuff is. It is unfortunate too, because without whatever that is on the surface a lot of those coins would grade very well. I have wondered if it might be glue or something used to affix the coins to some sort of board or something. And I really have only seen it on the coins of the dates mentioned above.
Wierd!
