Update on my quest for The Immaculate Collection

Regarding my PSA 10 1988 Topps Football Set - I have in possession 14 of the 396 cards and have purchased two more on eBay, making the total 16/396. I have some stiff competition apparently since I dropped $15.50 on the #11 Timmy Smith card today.

To add a little fun to the page I created for this set (see link below), I have created a blog dealing with the quest:

With the lack of PSA 10s for this set, you will be putting this together for a long time......or go back to attempting to submitting them yourself.

Hey I think Timmy Smith was the Super Bowl MVP when the redskins won. Didn't he rush for 200 yards that game.

  • I wish I had done a blog on my Lawrence Taylor set when I first started it. Very interesting and great stuff to read. Obviously, competition has made collecting 1988 Topps football more expensive, but don't you think it's also more fun? Geoff, how does one start a blog? Maybe, I'll start a new set and creat a blog for it. Thanks for any input - John.

  • lostdart - I don't plan on finishing it anytime soon lol and yeah I am gonna be submitting a lot myself, especially commons.

stump - that is correct. He also got picked up for drugs recently. How the mighty have..

AISA - The blog I started was actually on my own web space. There are several great blog sites though you could sign up for, including livejournal.com and myspace.com.

I'd recommend contacting a few of the bulk submitters and see if they'll work a deal for you. I bought most of my 1989 Score PSA 10 set that way, and it was definitely cheaper than competing on eBay. Submitting yourself will be a huge money sink on a set that is so plentiful and cheap raw... at least until the last 5% that you might only get with your own submissions. Good luck,
    Joe
