Happy New Year From Ebay! Not!!

I am more than upset! I listed approx. 28 card /lots for sale on ebay using the .10 fee. This morning, I have a note from ebay that 23 (so far) lots have been cancelled because I violated the Paypal requirement by noting that I don't accept credit cards. (my account is not set up that way). Why today? Why after 4+ days of a 5 day listing? Why 23 out of 28 when all have the same wording? Has anyone else ever received the same response? This was not the way I wanted to start the new year. Sorry for the rant, but it beats taking it out on anything (anyone?) else.

  • Well, if you want to find someone to take it out on, I'll give you a hint. Ebay did not do that all on their own. Somebody reported your listings. Maybe a competitor????

    Happy hunting. image

  • I guess it's possible that someone "turned me in" but When I last looked, the highest bid for any lot was $17.00. Many lots were for $2.00 or less! I have had over 1500 ebay transactions, with positive feedback of 99.9, I guess I don't understand why. Are you saying that ebay is not policing the listings, but the only way is for a complaint? Thanks for the input.

From what I understand, that's right! It could have just been somebody browsing and noticed that you didn't take credit cards. Some people just like to be a PITA. Ebay changed there policy last August and now require all sellers that take Paypal to also take credit card payments thru Paypal. BTW, it's pretty easy to upgrade your Paypal account to take CC's. It took me about 3 minutes. I did it to make it easier for my customers to pay in the manner they wish to.

  • Thanks for the info. I have done a little "research", and it looks like you are correct. I have also learned
that I have a "Premier" account with Paypal, and it says that I can accept credit card payments. When I set the account up about 3 years ago, I thought there was more involved than just "accepting a credit card payment" (and paying the fees). As all of my transactions are for moving parts of my "accumulations"
so that I can concentrate on my collection, no sales are of any large price, and I didn't believe I would ever need to accept credit cards. Well, it seems that my first "lessons" of 2006 have been learned. Does anyone know what the wording in the bidder notification e-mail says? Does the cancellation of the listings
let the bidder know the precise reason? Thanks again.
