What will 2006 bring for Roosie collectors?

I've pondered this question and I still do not have an answer.

2005-P/D non-SF/FB Roosies are non-existant. 1-P in MS67FB and 1-D in MS66FB and that is it. Anyone sending these in for grading or even checking for these?

Sometime in June the 2006 SF Mint sets come out. That basically gives anyone 6 months to track down 06 FB's.

Still no word on re-design...anyone care to shed some light into this subject? Has anyone heard anything? How long will this series go on?

1970, 1974, 1978. Do these dates ring a bell?

Happy New Year,
Paul.

Later, Paul.

    Paul,

I have about twenty dimes to send in but, I am waiting for the series to heat up again. I have five or seven coins in my set that I think will go full band, and could take advantage of my 4 free gradings but have not as of yet. The big two Roosey makers (Mitch and Nick) seem to have moved on and the few that get them graded are doing so at a lost. Only the serious Roosey collectors are still involved in the series, and there is no market for the sub-par grades making it a bigger risk to slab them. I hope to see more involvement in 2006 and hope all of my Roosey buddies find the 69 FB coin they are looking for.

  • I really want to start collecting Roosie's more seriously. I just don't dare send any for grading right now. And if I did get a high grade duplicate I don't think I could find any buyers at what I think would be a fair price.

Fred: For me, it was not really an issue of "moving on" in 2005. I love the Roosie series - both silver and clad. The issue was more that it became exceedingly negative vis a vis the "cost/benefit analysis" of trying to produce any Roosies in 2005. After an exhaustive search, I could find a super high grade Roosie, but the coin simply would not receive bands from PCGS; or I could find a no question band Roosie, but the coin would not achieve the necessary grade to make it a winner. After myriad defeats, one often decides to try something new (and rewarding) for a while.

But, although I may be "down", I am not entirely "out" of the Roosie grading challenge. I have a few clad Roosies in for grading right now and expect to submit a few more in 1/06. I recently tried to grade a 05(d) SF MS69FB, but came up a bit short in the small batch I got back as well.

I personally expect Roosie submissions to heat up a bit in the first half of 2006.

Mitch I think we all have come up short looking for the 05 in 69FB

I had hoped Denver had gotten the massage that collectors "WANT FULL BANDS".
But I guess news travels slow up to that altitude.

  • I just want a plain old ms67 who cares about bands set. I want an ms67 69-p and 70-p very much. I took a look at one of the 2 70-p's but just couldn't buy it when my raw ones have much nicer luster. Who knows though what my raw ones will grade. pcgs seems to be basing their grade mostly on strike these days. What's up with that?
