Tommy Frazier blasts Herbstreit's comments about '95 Huskers being 1 dimensional

CoinHuskerCoinHusker Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭
My son posted this on another thread but I thought it deserved some attention of it's own. It was funny.

<< <i>A local sports radio show (Big Sports 590) had an interview with Tommy Frazier after Herbstriet's bash that Tommy Frazier and the Huskers could only do one thing and would get beat by the 05 USC team and Tommy said something like, "What does he know?" "He was a mediocre quarter back at a mediocre school and is now a mediocre analyst." They might have a link to the interview on their website, but it was funny! image

Of course it's easy for Frazier to sit there and run his mouth, I suspect he'd be talking differently if he actually had to face this behemoth.

UT will be going down in flames, and justify this USC teams among the all time greatest to ever grace the field.

  • Come on, 1994 Penn State ahead of 1995 Nebraska? Uh, #2 1994 Penn State was not even better than 1994 Nebraska!! image

As much as Herbstreit loves to suck up to Big Ten schools, he still can't re-write history. Besides, 1995 Nebraska was actually 3-Dimensional:
Run, Option-Run, and Pass (they did average 156 passing yards per game). And their defense beat the hell out of Spurrier's "balanced" Fun-n-Gun offense.

Yet a number 2 team who beat mighty Indiana 35-29 was better. Hell, 2002 Ohio State was better than 94 Penn State -- but I guess Kirk did not want to appear TOO biased.

Well I am opinionated and outspoken, but unlike this clown frazier, I speak in truths.

Frazier's mad because his college days were the best days of his life, and now he's probably cleaning toliets recounting his 'glory' days, and how his team could kick anyone's ass.

    Coinkhusker:

The 1994 Penn State was outstanding... the Indiana game was not as close as the score would indicate. Indiana scored 2 touchdowns in the final 2 minutes of the game.

The biggest blemish on the Penn State season was the Illinois game that was televised Nationally. Penn State rallied for a 35-31 win after falling behind 21-0. I am willing to bet that if you asked Joe Paterno, he would consider that win in his top 10 best wins of his coaching career. Great teams do what they have to do to win and Penn State displayed that as well as any team... they escaped Champaign with a win which was all they needed to do.

As for Nebraska... I am not really sure which team was their best. I recall that Thanksgiving Day game with Oklahoma in which Nebraska won 35-31. I think that was 1971 and the year Johnny Rogers won the Heisman. That game would probably make everyone's top ten list as a real classic. As much fun as it is to talk about the best dynasty in college football over a three year period, there are no right answers, but some answers are better than others.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

Tommy is head coach at Doane college in Nebraska. As far as being a clown, at least he has a life, at least he had some glory days and excelled at something other than being a "know-it-all" on some intenet sports forum, is respected for his accomplishments by just about everybody in the sporting community other than you. Oooops, that's right you're not really in the sporting community. Just a lurker, who probably never even played a sport. You're funny. image

    Wrong!

I'll agree with you the 1995 Huskers team being the best, but not the 1994 team. We were better and you know it.

Well you don't know me, you don't know my past, you don't know what sports I've played.

Unlike yourself, I don't try to live vicariously through some ancient college football team....trying to bring back my own glory days.

Now grow up, and quit trying to be funny (you aren't).

If 10 years ago is ancient to you...well...maybe you should think about your own advice to me. image

As for the other, well, I just have to say, I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to be funny...I said I thought you're funny! image

Well, the voters in both polls disagreed.

I forgot about the close Illinois game as well. Nebraska beat #3 Miami in the Orange Bowl AT MIAMI, while Penn St. beat #12 Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Case closed.

If you wanna whine about 1994 lets go back to the 1982 National Champs which needed a 2 foot out-of-bounds reception to beat Nebraska.

Ax, you were proven wrong, and now your failure to admit it makes you look like a total ASS. Before you "speak in truths", do a little research next time.

Tommy may be a coach at some podunk college in the middle of nowhere, not that there's anything wrong with that....

but he sure as hell ain't no Kirk H. starring on ESPN College Gameday!

I bet Tommy's a bit jealous about that gig......even though he was right about one thing. Kirk WAS a mediocre QB.

Doane College's main campus is in Crete, NE -- near Lincoln, so not exacly in the middle of nowhere.

You gotta start somewhere -- Bill Parcells started coaching at Hastings College, truly in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska.

And, as you probably know, Trev Albert WAS jealous of the College Gameday gig, which is why he stormed off the set (probably a bad career move, though, he could have stepped in once Lee Corso keels over).

Edited to reflect correction from the Coinhusker who still lives in Nebraska!

    Lee Corso...

I think that guy is either a robot or an alien.

Doane College is in Grand Island, NE -- sort of in the middle of nowhere, but a decent sized small city.

Well, actually, Doane is in Crete, NE. just outside Lincoln. image

Yup, you just jogged my memory -- been 19 years since I graduated from NU -- my Alzheimers must be kicking in! image

They do have a Grand Island campus, but now I remember the main campus is in Crete.
