Well, well, well. Here's a surprise, the '05 USC team didn't do so well in the polls. I wonder why? image

It is truly amazing that Army is back at 8th and the Minnesota teams in the 1934-36 time frame did not make it at all. The Oklahoma selection at number one is reasonable. I am surprised that only the current USC team (past three years was considered).

My own unbiased, un-opinionated, unimportant ranking of teams over an era.................

    1. Oklahoma, 53-58
    2. Minnesota, 34-36
    3. Alabama, 61-66
    4. Army, 44-46
    5. Nebraska, 93-97
    6. Notre Dame, 46-49

The current USC team, depending on its margin of victory ( assume they do win ) over a fine Texas team would probably enter the top six, the 2006 season results might move them into second place, or possibly even the top spot if another National title.

The ND teams from 46-49 were good... two problems... 1. The 1944 and 45 losses to Army that reflect how great the 1944-45 Army teams were and the 1948 Michigan Squad... they were tough.
