Remember the Alamo...bowl

Remember the 05 Alamo bowl for a great game, lousy officiating, gutsy comeback, a crazy finish and one team that is looking forward and one...looking back.

  • i saw parts of the game, including the last few minutes. why wasn't there a flag on the last play of the game when all the nebraska players ran on the field during a LIVE play?
  • NU was VERY fortunate in that one of their players made that tackle at the 15 yard line. Otherwise, it might have been a repeat of the Stanford-Cal marching band game!!

As far as looking forward/back, I think both teams will improve in 2006 and end up 9-2.

Great game!! I moved to NY from Nebraska in '80...been a fan since the early 70's...glad to see them make something of their season this year...too bad they lost the TxTech game this year...they should have downed it when they intercepted w/20 sec. left..woulda won the game!!!!!! Go Huskers!! Got a few Husker fan stuff for xmas...my wife loves me..swears she wont watch a game with me cuz when she does they lose!!!! image

I'd say a pretty good game for two 7&4 teams!!!

  • Heroes of the game: Zachary Brown and Titus Brothers. Their heads up play during the chaos saved a successful season for the Huskers.

Technically, both teams should have been flagged for too many men on the field on the last play (although Nebraska should've been flagged for "WAY too many men on the field"). So if everything would have been called "technically correct", should it have been offsetting penalties, play over with no time left?

In any case, a truly bizarre play. I'm not sure why more teams (NFL and college) don't give that a try when it's their only hope on the last play of a game.
  • The game was close, but the officiating truly ruined it. They missed so many calls that those guys should be shot. IMO, Michigan did get the raw end of it by a large margin but winning or losing the game really didn't matter in the broad spectrum, so no biggie. The call they missed on Michigans second to last drive (pass interference) was so obvious, as was the incompletion in the endzone by Nebraska that Carr as forced to use a time out for so that the review officials would take the time to look at it. Seriously, it's bad when even the announcers (Mike and Kirk) were saying it was possibly the worst officiating they have ever seen. They even started laughing after they saw that the refs missed the pass interference call late. I wont say that Michigan would have won the game if that penalty was called, but they should have gotten the opportunity to. Still an entertaining game though...

Even though I despise Michigan, I always wish for the Big10 to do well in their bowl games.

I saw that last play on Sportscenter. It had ME on the edge of my seat. I can't imagine what you Michigan fans were doing when it was taking place in real time.

If you EVER want Michigan to win ANYTHING, than you do not despise them as a true Buckeye should. Take it from a 2-time Michigan State graduate.
  • One of the craziest plays in a long time. It will be the most played highlight of the bowl games this year. I wonder how many other teams will try this play if the games comes down to last play. Tough loss for Mich, but congrats to the Huskers.

1966 cuda...nice gift. Would love to have one of PSU like that for my game room.
