Anyone ever deal with ebayer codyp2000?

Just curious about this guy. I won an auction on the 18th, paid when I received correct invoice on the 19th and then got a note later the cards were shipped on the 20th. I have not gotten them yet. Obviously being the Christmas season and all things might be delayed but what worries me is the sellers reply to my email. I asked how they were shipped and if I could get a tracking#, etc because I had not gotten anything yet. His reply "they were sent. you did not include insurance. I am not responsible for uninsured items'. Like hell he isn't. He has to proved he actually mailed them, insured or not. Wouldn't you guys agree? Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself but his short snotty reply to my question was not expected and makes me wonder. I won auctions for 8 more cards on Dec 25th but am most certainly not paying for those until I receive my other cards. Any thoughts?

If you paid by paypal, you're right. He has to be able to prove that he mailed something with delivery confirmation. A postal receipt doesn't cut it. If you paid with cash or a money order, things get more difficult.

But mail is slow this time of year so keep your fingers crossed. I do find it amazing that insured items get lost about 0.000001% of the time, but uninsured items from sellers with low feedback get "lost" about 10% of the time.

I have dealt with Bill a number of times in the past (15-20 transactions). He has always delivered the cards for me and been easy to deal with. I would be patient and expect the cards to turn up soon. Good luck with it and welcome!
  • I'm sure you are dealing with a reputable seller....but....I don't blame you in the least for being peeved about the seller's response to your inquiry. First, you asked him two very simple questions: 1) by what means were your cards sent out; and 2) is there a tracking number. Completely legitimate questions. The seller flat-out REFUSED to supply you with this information. Worse yet, the seller is pulling the old "you didn't buy insurance" bit. Very, very unprofessional.

I also don't believe the mail is that slow. Unless the cards were sent parcel post or media mail. That can take up to 10 business days. But if such is the case, the seller should tell you that. Otherwise, if your cards really were mailed on the 20th, priority mail would have absolutely gotten to you by now. Same goes for first class mail. First class mail cross country (even at this time of year) only takes 3 or 4 business days. The mail is simply not that slow (and no, I don't work for the post office).

You obviously sent your payment fast--the least the seller can do is respond with constructive information. I'm not necessarily advocating this, but if you did pay by paypal, initiate a complaint. THAT will get the seller's attention. Then the seller will have to provide tracking info (if he has it). I agree with a previous post--as far as Paypal is concerned, insurance is a non-issue.

I'm not trying to bash sellers. But I do think you should have your cards by now or an explanation as to when you can reasonably anticipate receiving them.

  • Well after emailing him back I got him to give me a USPS tracking #. It shows they accepted it on the 20th. It is going from PA to TX. I'd have expected it by now but you never know with the post office. What stinks is the tracking won't show where it is in route unless sent by express mail. I think I'll call the post office and see if they can help me.

BTW thanks for the welcome to the board. I've been collecting off and on since 1981 and managed to accumulate about 150,000 cards and am looking forward to sticking with it from now on and using this board as a valuable resource.

Bill is a reputable seller. I have had a few transactions with him also. If he said he mailed it then I would trust that.
I am also a frequent buyer as well as seller on ebay. A postal receipt is the best anyone can provide if the buyer did not pay for insurance or delivery confirmation. What else do you expect the guy to provide? The buyer takes the chance if insurance or delivery confirmation is not included. Just be wise who you buy from and that their reputation is respectable.

I have purchased many cards for Bill and never had a problem. Be patient, mail is slow this time of year.

  • I've also dealt recently with Bill and been quite happy with the results. I have noticed that mail is a little goofed up right now. I got a package yesterday from an auction finishing the 20th of Dec. Today I got one from the same seller that was mailed 3 days earlier! So I'd blame it on the mail and give it a couple more days.

  • I had an excellent transaction with him within the past month.
  • I am with the others on this thread. He is a reputable seller. He sold me a raw 77 Kingman that just came back a 9 from PSA.
  • CodyP is a good guy. You'll get your cards, or if not, you can assume it is USPS problem.
