Grading your favorite type of coins ?????

Say you walk into your favorite coin shop.
The coins you know the most about are on the counter.
This coin is in EF/AU condition.What type of coin is it?
What is the first thing you look at? (except the cost)
For me it is Lincoln cents. I look at the ear, cheek & wheat lines.

Eye appeal.

For the sake of argument, in large cents (the only thing I would dare buy from my local dealer) I look at the hair and crown on the obverse, and the leaves on the reverse and the denticles on both sides.
