Why grade coins at all?

Heck, we're all in it for the fun anyhow. Why don'ts we just all puts coins in envelopes and draw names. Big sooprizes. Fun, excitement! As far as it could get from "investment." Sounds good to me.
Only rule: no expecting a complete set for a single coin. Gotta trade sets fer sets.
OKAY?
Look out eBay.

IS all about the numbers. Haven't you learned that on here yet? I did, right here on this board. Thanks PCGS forums!!!!
I remember before I collected coins I saved baseball cards.
I flipped them heads vs tails and against a wall. When you got a new one that was better.
With coins, the mint produces millions. They use separate dies. It's the same thing.
You always want to keep the better one aside.
If your lucky you won't find anything wrong with your coin that your looking at.
I would much rather buy a coin that is already graded versus a coin that is raw. This is especially true when the coin that I am interested in is worth more than a few hundred dollars.
I agree a coin of great value would need to be authenticated but would it make a difference
if it was raw or not ??If I were to keep a raw coin in my collection I would value it the same. JMO
