Anyone ever had PSA remove the peel on their card?

I recently sent in a 2000 Upper Deck Power Deck Magical Moments Autographs Cal Ripken, Jr. (Paid $372) with the peel covering the back of the card to protect the CD from scratches and PSA removed it before grading it. I've sent in other cards like Finest and PSA grades the card with the peel intact. Has anyone ever had PSA alter the original state of the shipped card like what happened to me? I've written a letter that I'm going to send to Joe Orlando and Customer Support. Does anyone have these email addresses handy?
