Ax, since I have compassion for the lower level of thought in our society I present for you yet again :
At the moment, the Giants are in because the teams behind them FAILED to win enough games against the important division and conference opponents. Those losses before the final week have rendered them INCAPABLE of catching the Giants who HAVE won more games and against important opponents. Thus, the Giants are awarded a early playoff spot due to THE FACT that none of these teams can CATCH them.
Concentrate, FOCUS, and comprehend my student. A NFL team CAN'T "back in" to the playoffs when that playoff spot is awarded with more games left on the schedule. You may wish this, you obviously WANT this, but its not reality. If you can overcome your short-mindness then you are ready to graduate to posting info with some real legitamcy.
Axtell, since you continually bash New York teams with a winning record, I am just curious...do you root for the Seahawks in the NFL? Because in case you don't know they do have a winning record. Why not concentrate on the team you love? I am being very serious...who do you root for?
I think it's you with the comprehension problem. It's obvious you don't want to grasp the very problem of your team's backing into the playoffs. The very definition of backing in is claiming a playoff spot with a loss and another team's loss. I cannot possibly help you grasp this very basic concept. It's apparent you are unable to come to the realization that your boy Eli CHOKED (again) in a big spot (just like big brother!), and couldn't put away a team they should have beaten.
spammy-
You know as well as everyone here my team is the Bucs...not going to bore anyone with how long I've been a fan of them, since those who spout off about that are typically bandwagon riders (just like you and softie there).
softie I'm done with this conversation with you. I've beaten and bloodied you to a pulp...this just isn't fun anymore. Say goodnight, and crawl back under your bed with spammy and suck each other's...thumbs.

You really need to start promoting your team and stop bashing New York winners. I bet many on this board just assume you are a Seahawk fan and New York basher. Why don't you go to charm school?
shut your damn trap, before I put my foot through it. NY 'fans' like you are the class clowns...how telling is it you put that giants helmet up there the day after they backed into the playoffs? BANDWAGONER!
And softie-
you've been beaten and pummeled so much in this 'debate' (I'll use that term loosely, as it's been so one sided in my direction), that you don't know which way is up. The funniest thing? You still think the giants didn't back into the playoffs! Hillarious! Is it the NY water? The air? What makes folks in NY so damn delusional?
Tore up from the floor up? That's the best you can do?
I like how you STILL fail to admit the giants backed their sorry asses into a playoff spot...the epitome of backing in to a playoff spot was put on display by the giants and eli 'choke' manning this weekend.
I'd love to see the giants lose (not hard to believe, Eli is horrible, and especially god awful on the road), and the skins win to kick those pansies to a wild card spot.
So softie...when will I get an admission out of you the giants backed their way into the playoffs this weekend?
I'm really beginning to think that you just might not know how to read but, anyway, here it is again ax. Do your homework when I tell you to or else you won't be that ice cream man that you always dream about when you grow up.

A true "back in" happens when a team goes into the last week of the season with no playoff spot but is alive in the chase and then loses, only to be resurrected by the help of one or many teams on that last day of the season.
The notion that a team "backs in" with a playoff spot clinched BEFORE the last week of the season is the desperate propaganda of the cluless, yet obnoxious sports fan.
I disagree wholeheartedly with the 2 of you...and worse, if say, the Eagles or Redskins had done this, you 2 buffoons would have been screaming 'they backed in! they backed in!'

Nope, you won't EVER see me bemoaning the success of another team, and that includes the Boston Red Sox. I'll talk crap about them, but you will NEVER see me begrudge a teams well deserved respect when it wins. EVER

Bogus made up? I guess only when it applies to 'your' NY teams right?
And since when is backing into the playoffs a success? Ask any player as a man and they all will tell you they'd prefer to punch their own dance card, instead of relying on someone else. They'll say the 'we're happy to be in the playoffs' line all day on camera.
Good way to spin, boy, spin! You must be a politician (albeit a slippery, slimy one at that).

right, and the Giants STILL have this opportunity ax! You are so ahead of yourself on this it IS funny. You are just sooooo hungry as the NY hater to jump on this one that you ar bla bla bla "back in" bla bla bla bla "back in" bla bla bla bla bla.
axy, the Giants can still win the division. Even if they are calling even you to play middle linebacker for them.
I've said since this debate started that the giants backed into the playoffs when the vikings lost.
True they may win the divison, but it doesn't take away the fact that they clinched a playoff spot by another team losing, therefore the GIANTS BACKED IN?
Just admit it, my hands hurt from smacking you so much.
At the moment, the Giants are in because the teams behind them FAILED to win enough games against the important division and conference opponents. ok I get it mushy, you are unable to see the truth behind my words. It's ok...denial's not just a river in egypt.
Maybe someday you'll grow up to the fact that NY teams aren't the end all, be all that you make them out to be. Someday you'll learn that Eli's a choke artist. Someday you'll learn that the NY hype machine can't spin infinitely on and on.
<< <i> Maybe someday you'll grow up to the fact that NY teams aren't the end all, be all that you make them out to be. . >>
I would like you to point out anything I have ever said that even remotely matches your "grasping for straws" statement above.
Anyway, to get back on topic. .....
Although like I said the term "Back In" is bogus bull to plop on one's favorite team to hate, the term "Back In" is usually meant for teams who have played their last game of the season, and they are waiting around in the locker room hoping another team will lose in order for them to make the playoffs. Bogus term or not, this clearly is not the case with the Giants. Sure I want them to win the Division this coming weekend, which they very well might, but they made the playoffs. It's a new slate and they have as good of chance to win the Super Bowl as any team. Like the old saying goes "you got to be in to win it"
Axt, I still don't understand why you are always so combative. If I say something is black and it is, you will say it is white just to argue. By the way, congrats on your Sports Entity Poll.
don't get butthurt because you were voted most annoying.
Second, the very definition of backing into the playoffs is what the giants 'accomplished' this past weekend. When you get into the playoffs after you lose and another team loses, that's the very epitome of backing in.
Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. Yesterday's clinch of the Division was just icing on the cake. The Giants were already on their way to their first step to the big dance.
<< <i>Both announcers said words to the effect of 'I don't see how they can't call this a TD' yet there it was. >>
They don't have the benefit of the replay booth. >>
Uhm, they have the same replays in the booth as they do for the broadcast.
Keep trying, and maybe you'll convince your other NYites that there wasn't a NY agenda at work this season...hell it started in week one with giving the giants an extra home game.
Oh well, they'll be one and one, cause Eli stinks and that team will be exposed in the playoffs.

Ax, you are the one with a New York agenda.
If the Giants are exposed in the playoffs it will be more likely someone rushing all over the Giants decimated middle linebacking corps.

Oh here come the excuses already!
But you can't play the injury card, schmoe. Every team has injuries to deal with. At least that's what we tell stalin when he (falsely) tries to blame injuries for the Bucs' losses.

again and again you fail to admit you are WRONG here.
The giants lost.
The vikings lost.

Anyway, to get back on topic. .....

Now, get back under your bed, boy!
Moot point now, isn't it?
Here's hoping for a Eli-Peyton Super Bowl in '06!!!
By the way, Happy New Year, man!

Moot point that the refs didn't give Collins a TD on that QB sneak...sure.
Neither Eli or Peyton are going to the super bowl this year you clown.
You wreak of hatred for New York teams with winning records. It is as simple as that.
By the way, Happy New Year, man!
Both announcers said words to the effect of 'I don't see how they can't call this a TD' yet there it was.
Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. Yesterday's clinch of the Division was just icing on the cake. The Giants were already on their way to their first step to the big dance.

They don't have the benefit of the replay booth.
<< <i>Whatever, man, if you can't see the Giants were benefit of some questionable officiating on that TD review, then you're as blind as softie.

The Raiders get STOPPED on what was a great goal line stand. FOUR plays from the one and the Giants D somes up big. Congrats Giants!

What's your next excuse going to be?

No excuses, I am agreeing that they could be exposed. This is a fact, and I am hoping Antonio Pierce will be able to play next week!

Gawd they suck. What was Larry Brown thinking? He should have known better given Isiah Thomas' track record as a basketball executive.
