Medal Latin

I will be posting a photo later next week, probably. However, in the meantime, can someone help me with a Latin motto.

The obverse is Saint Benedict. S. BENEDICTO COENOBITAR PER OCCID PARENTI.
The reverse is two figures in the foreground, one blessing the other who kneels. Saint Benedict stands in the background.
S. MAURO. ABB. GREGORIUS XVI ANTEA MAURUS ABB CAMALD. Below, it reads, IN HOSPITO APOSTOL AN (1834).

I know that Pope Gregory did something with an Abby of Saint Maurice in Switzerland, around that time.

    Try this.

I'm not sure how much it'll help you, and the abbreviations might trip it up, but it's better than nothing- something I bookmarked.

I wish I had taken Latin and Greek in high school now. Unfortunately, Latin was only offered as an elective and Greek not at all. I used all my elective hours on Spanish (took four years of that in high school, my only straight-A subject, and I don't regret that a bit).

Auto Mechanics is another elective course I wish I'd taken in high school. image

Thank you. The key word on the reverse may have been "coenobitar." It can mean "monk." I am thinking that the reverse legend would thus mean something like "to Saint Benedict, monk for the Western nations." Saint Benedict is considered to be the patron saint of Western Europe.

I furthermore looked again at the biography of Pope Gregory XVI. At 18, he entered the Camaldolese monastery, and took the name Mauro. The Camaldolese order is a strict Benedictine order (not that I know what that means). So, in short, I guess that the medal commemorates Gregory's antecedants.

By the way, if you know about the coin archives website, I found a graphic of the medal by entering "Cerbara," the medal's artist. It is the last medal that shows up in the list.
